CMV Marco Polo cabins review
Follows the review of MS Marco Polo staterooms in terms of furniture, amenities, and complimentary services:
Each of the Marco Polo cruise ship cabins features an en-suite bathroom (shower cubicle with plastic curtain, single-sink vanity, WC, hairdryer, bathrobes), a sleeping area (twin bed or 2 twins—some convertible to a double, bedside tables, Stillform mattresses), a living area, and a wardrobe (mirrored doors, ample drawer and hanging space). Other amenities include a mirrored vanity/dressing table with a chair, direct-dial phone, electronic safe, mini-bar/fridge, individual air-conditioning (thermostat-controlled), music console, LCD TV, wall lighting, and nightly turndown service. Some cabins are equipped with additional Pullman beds for a 3rd or 4th passenger. Toiletries (unbranded bath products) are replenished regularly and include wall-mounted shower gel/shampoo and two soap bars. All staterooms feature wood furnishings.
Pullman beds are foldaway bunks that pull down from the wall. On Marco Polo, these are wall-mounted. Stateroom categories with bunk beds include 2-Standard Plus Twin Inside (Decks Atlantic, Baltic, Caribic), 4-Premium Twin Inside (Decks Columbus, Amundsen, Pacific), 6-7-Standard Twin Oceanview (Decks Atlantic, Baltic, Caribic), and 9-Superior Twin Oceanview (Decks Columbus, Amundsen).
CMV’s onboard TV programming includes news and movie channels (such as BBC News, CNN International, BBC World, Film 4, CBS Drama, The Chart Show), a dedicated Marco Polo ship information channel (shore excursion and tour lectures, itinerary port talks, scheduled events, cruise director announcements), a cruise DVD promotional channel, and a live cam channel ("view from the bridge").
Most passenger accommodations have two fixed single beds. Only a small number of cabins offer convertible or fixed queen/king beds. Most Standard Plus and lower-category oceanview cabins have portholes, while higher-category oceanview cabins have windows. Due to the ship’s older design, cabin window sizes vary by deck and location—from slightly larger than a porthole to nearly floor-to-ceiling.
Each Suite (Deluxe and Junior) features a separate sitting area (with refrigerator and walk-in closet) and a marble bathroom (WC, bathtub, shower stall with curtain). Deluxe Suites offer king-size beds, while Junior Suites come with twin beds convertible to a queen. Both Deluxe Suites are located at the bow and are named Mandarin (706, port side) and Dynasty (703, starboard side). Junior Suites 811 and 812 have partially obstructed views due to lifeboats.
Oceanview cabins feature either a picture window or porthole, depending on deck location. Standard Plus (Category 8) and lower grades have portholes, while higher-grade cabins have picture windows.
Note: Refer to the deckplan legend for details on Marco Polo cabin features such as bed configurations (2 fixed beds, additional beds for 3rd/4th passengers, king/queen beds), obstructed view cabins, and single-occupancy staterooms. Due to the ship’s older layout, cabins may differ even within the same category. Only a few staterooms have convertible beds; most have two fixed single beds.
Room service is available 24 hours but is not complimentary. The room service menu includes: Caesar salad (GBP 8), soup (GBP 3.50), baguette with cheese and salad (GBP 7), beef burger (GBP 13), homemade cake (GBP 6), and beverages (tea/coffee GBP 1.80). Complimentary in-cabin continental breakfast is offered between 7–10 am, with options like cereals, bread, pastries, yogurt, fruits, juices, and hot drinks.
Single cabins
MS Marco Polo’s single cabins are available for booking at single-occupancy rates (no supplement required). All are fitted with one lower and one upper bed and include en-suite bathrooms.
- Superior Single Inside (Category 5) cabins are located on Caribic Deck 4 and Columbus Deck 10.
- Standard Single Oceanview (Category 10) cabins are located on Pacific Deck 7 and Amundsen Deck 9. Each features a picture window. Cabins 656 and 661 have partially obstructed views.
Handicap / wheelchair-accessible cruise cabins
For CMV Marco Polo passengers with disabilities, there are only two accessible cabins equipped for guests with mobility limitations and their companions. Both are on Amundsen Deck 9—Cabin 655 (aft) and Cabin 631 (forward). These feature wider entry doors (2.8 ft / 84 cm; bathroom door width 2 ft / 58 cm), turning space, open bed frames, lowered vanity in the sitting area, amplified phones, captioned TVs, and spacious bathrooms with roll-in showers, fold-down benches, grab bars, lower sinks and closet rods, raised toilets, and handheld showerheads.
Both accessible cabins are conveniently located near elevators.
All passenger decks are serviced by elevators. All onboard dining venues, bars, and lounges are wheelchair accessible and offer designated seating.
