Silver Wind cabins review
Most Silver Wind cabins (75%) have private balconies, with the exception of the Vista Suites (window suites) located on the lowest cabin deck (Deck 4). There are only two handicap (wheelchair-accessible) cabins for disabled passengers (#640-643 on Deck 6, located near the lobby lift). The ship has no standard connecting rooms (suites convertible into a double suite); only the highest-grade two-bedroom suites can be combined. The total number of cabin categories is 8.
One passenger-use laundromat (butler- and self-service laundry facility) is located on Deck 4. Detergent is provided.
Passenger staterooms are among the largest at sea. As is traditional for Silversea, Silver Wind is an all-suite ship, with all passenger accommodations located in the forward half. This design allows all public rooms to be positioned between midship and the stern, improving guest comfort and privacy in the suites.
Below is a review of Silver Wind staterooms (suite accommodations), including furniture, amenities, and included (complimentary) services:
Each Silver Wind suite features a large living area (chairs, table, sofa, writing desk), walk-in closet (with numerous drawers and shelves), dining table, vanity area (mirrored table and stool), marble bathroom (bathtub/shower, robes, towels, slippers, and luxury bath products from leading European brands), and bedroom (queen bed convertible to twins, luxury mattresses, Pratesi bedding sets, pillow menu, duvets). Additional features include a leather headboard, bedside tables with lamps, hairdryer, smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system with movies on demand and live camera views), media center (sound system with VCR/DVD/CD; discs available at the ship’s library), iPod station, radio/alarm clock, minibar (cocktail cabinet), fully stocked refrigerator (wine, beer, soft drinks), safe, direct-dial phone, magnifying mirror, binoculars, umbrella, stationery, complimentary 24-hour room service (butler service), 110/220 V power outlets, and aromatherapy cabin scents by Laura Tonatto.
The Room Service menu offers the same items as the dining room’s menu. Room service is available during The Restaurant’s opening hours via complimentary butler service for course-by-course in-suite dining. During the day, guests can also order burgers, salads, pasta, sandwiches, and appetizers.
The highest-grade suites (GS-Grand, RS-Royal, and OS-Owner’s) are available in two configurations—one-bedroom or two-bedroom (when booked together with an adjacent Veranda Suite). The Medallion Suite on Deck 7 also features two bedrooms. These suites offer floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening to a large balcony with luxury patio furniture, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a powder room with a full-size whirlpool bathtub. Two-bedroom (double) suites include a second veranda. Grand and Royal Suites have connecting doors to Veranda Suites (providing three balconies in total). Owner’s Suites have guest bathrooms (WC/sink) and connecting doors to Vista Suites (therefore only one balcony). Additional amenities and services for GS, RS, OS, SS, and MS suite guests include whirlpool bathtubs, daily newspapers, two hours of cabin phone usage (worldwide calls), complimentary laundry services (dry-cleaning and pressing), in-suite dining with afternoon canapés, Illy coffee maker, additional TVs, exclusive dining at the Officer’s Table, and one complimentary dinner for two at Le Champagne restaurant.
The Medallion Suite is an additional cabin category on Silver Wind that is not available on her sistership Silver Cloud. Located on Deck 7 midship (two-bedroom cabin #741 starboard) and Deck 8 forward (one-bedroom cabins #801, #802, #803, #804), these accommodations are also among the ship’s high-grade suite categories. However, only the large two-bedroom Medallion Suite on Deck 7 features the typical Silversea luxury suite amenities, including large picture windows in the living room, a separate dining area (four-seat table), a full-size whirlpool bathtub with a separate shower in the bathroom, and a second bathroom with shower.
Each Vista Suite (on Deck 4, plus both forward suites on Deck 5) has one large picture window instead of a balcony. Some include a sofa bed to accommodate a third passenger. Vista Suite cabin #738 (on Deck 7) is a two-bedroom accommodation—larger in size but still without a balcony.
All three Silver Suites are located midship starboard on Decks 5, 6, and 7. Unlike other high-grade accommodations, these cannot be booked as double suites. Unlike those on the sistership Silver Cloud, Silver Suites on Silver Wind feature bathtubs in their luxury bathrooms.
Personal butler service provides assistance with dinner reservations, room service (in-suite dining), refrigerator stocking, laundry, shoeshine, and packing/unpacking.
Silversea deals include complimentary shipwide Wi-Fi, available in all suite cabins and public areas. Each passenger receives at least one hour of Wi-Fi Internet service per day at no charge. Wi-Fi is free and unlimited for guests staying in the GS-Grand, RS-Royal, OS-Owner’s, and SS-Silver suite categories. This amenity upgrade is available on all Silver Cloud itineraries, including themed Silversea expedition cruises.
