Marella Discovery deck plan review at CruiseMapper provides newest cruise deck plans (2025-2026-2027 valid floor layouts of the vessel) extracted from the officially issued by Marella Cruises deckplan pdf (printable version).
Each of the Marella Discovery cruise ship deck plans are conveniently combined with a legend (showing cabin codes) and detailed review of all the deck's venues and passenger-accessible indoor and outdoor areas. A separate link provides an extensive information on Marella Discovery staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.
Marella Discovery (built in 1996 as "Splendour of the Seas", last refurbished in 2022) is a Vision-class Royal Caribbean ship, together with Enchantment, Grandeur, Legend (Marella Discovery 2), Rhapsody, and Vision. The vessel was originally built for Royal Caribbean International (RCI). Initially renamed “Thomson Discovery”, she is chartered by Marella Cruises through the parent company TUI Cruises. Entering service for Marella in June 2016, she became the fleet’s largest ship at the time, followed in April 2017 by her sistership Legend (Marella Discovery 2). Marella’s fleet later expanded with former TUI Cruises vessels Mein Schiff 1 (now Marella Explorer, since 2018) and Mein Schiff 2 (now Marella Explorer 2, since 2019).
The Marella Discovery deck plan includes 918 staterooms for 1,830 passengers (maximum capacity 2,074), served by 760 crew. The ship has 11 decks (10 passenger-accessible, 5 with cabins), 8 restaurants, 8 lounges and bars, 2 swimming pools, 4 Jacuzzis (outdoor whirlpool hot tubs), and 9 elevators. Among the dining venues, 4 serve breakfast, 7 serve lunch, 7 serve dinner, and 2 specialty restaurants operate with a surcharge, offering themed cuisines.
Marella Discovery remains the fleet’s largest ship, introducing several Royal Caribbean signature features for the first time on a Marella vessel, such as the Rock Climbing Wall and the Outdoor Movie Theater with a large LED screen and extensive deck seating.
Note: CruiseMapper’s Marella Discovery deck plan page also displays the decks of Royal Caribbean’s Splendour of the Seas.
Marella Discovery refurbishments 2021-2022 review
During her 2022 drydock (November, at Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain), MJM Marine Ltd (part of the MJM Group, Northern Ireland) was contracted for a full refurbishment of all passenger staterooms. The work included new cabin bathrooms and the installation of UV-free Antimicrobial Light technology (by Vyv Tech, New York, USA), fitted in all wet units by LightPartner Lichtsysteme GmbH (Bremen, Germany).
Following her 2021 drydock, the ship gained “The Glass House” – a redesigned, beach-club-style pool deck (aft on Deck 9) featuring an indoor swimming pool and an a-la-carte restaurant.
The 2021 project also saw a complete redesign of the Sun Deck, with new cabana-style day beds, premium outdoor furniture (sun loungers, dining tables, sofas, deckchairs), new pool tiling, upgraded wall coverings, new deck flooring, and modern lighting, including evening mood lighting.
The Glass House offers a-la-carte dining with two menus: deli-style food during the day, and in the evening, it transforms into a casual restaurant with a tapas-style menu.
