On the white sands of Virgin Voyages' Beach Club in Bimini, a total of 457 Sailors gathered in vibrant mermaid tails, setting the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as merpeople.

The company said that in true Virgin fashion, the mer-mazing attempt on November 4, 2022, included "lively music, epic makeup, shelfies, a few stadium-style waves and Champagne showers once the adjudicator announced that the record was officially beaten."

As part of the unforgettable MerMaiden voyage aboard Valiant Lady from her new winter home in PortMiami Florida, Sailors were invited to partake in the attempt to set a world record as well as to enjoy a collection of mermaid beauty pageants both onboard and at the Beach Club.

Virgin Voyages officially broke the previous record, the gathering of 378 merpeople set in the UK in June 2022. Following the trip, everyone who participated in the world record attempt will receive a photo/digital certificate marking the achievement.

Virgin Voyages’ CEO, Tom McAlpin said their Sailors had really shown up and supported the fun and exciting world record attempt that tied into the legendary brand.

"Each of our ships have a mermaid that guides our Sailors on their journeys, so what better way to celebrate another brand milestone than in sunny Bimini with so many of our Sailors tapping into their mermaid personas.”

The fleet’s second ship, Valiant Lady, made her Miami debut on October 30th, before setting sail for Cozumel (Mexico), Bimini (Bahamas), and Roatan, the first time the brand has visited Honduras. The vessel was greeted with local celebrations and music. Passengers had the opportunity to explore the lush landscapes of the island on immersive shore trips.

November 2022 also marks the brand’s first Eat & Drink Month in which every stateroom will receive a US$300 Bar Tab. Sailors can take advantage of a Bar Tab Bonus on 2022 & 2023 sailings and the Dreamy Getaway offer and snag 25% off.
