On Monday morning, September 25th, the 2017-built liner MSC Meraviglia made her debut in Newport RI USA as part of an inaugural Canada & New England itinerary. This marked the ship's first-ever visit to Rhode Island.

MSC Cruises is offering 10- and 11-night Fall Foliage voyages this autumn, taking travelers to scenic destinations in Canada and New England USA, perfectly timed to witness the vibrant autumn foliage of Newport's crisp New England season.

As the 18-deck-high MSC Meraviglia departs from homeport New York City, she stands as one of the world's largest passenger ships, boasting a volume of 171598 GT-tons. Her arrival this season signifies a significant moment, as she is Newport's largest vessel so far. According to data from the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), these new Canada & New England itineraries are anticipated to generate substantial economic benefits for the region, contributing approximately $2 million to the local Newport economy.

Meraviglia's Canada & New England voyages offer the opportunity to explore picturesque ports, visit world-renowned historical sites, and marvel at the unique autumn foliage. Newport, with its colonial architecture and stunning seaside vistas, is a highly anticipated stop on this itinerary. Highlights include a tour of "The Breakers," a historic mansion dating back to 1895, a leisurely stroll along the iconic 3.5-mi Cliff Walk, and a visit to Thames Street, where travelers can peruse local shops and savor fresh New England seafood.

MSC Cruises' Canada and New England itinerary is available seasonally, with cruises currently available for booking this fall, spring 2024, and fall 2024. In addition to Newport, the itinerary includes stops in Boston, Massachusetts; Portland, Maine; Sydney and Halifax, Nova Scotia; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; and Saint John, New Brunswick.

During other times of the year, MSC Meraviglia embarks from New York City on journeys to Bermuda, Florida, and The Bahamas.
