Ireland's Port Cork/Cobh reveals 23% surge in cruise ship visits for 2024

The Port of Cork Company (PoCC) unveiled the port's cruise schedule for 2024, highlighting an increase of 23% in the number of cruise vessels/booked berthings anticipated to visit Port Cork Ireland.

Between April and November 2024, the port is poised to host an impressive total of 116 cruise vessels, surpassing the previous year's figure of 94 ships, which brought 180,000 passengers to the region.

Cruise tourism is estimated to inject EUR 17 million into the local economy, with onshore spending averaging EUR 81 per passenger and EUR 29 per crewperson.

Kicking off the season, MS Sirena (operated by Oceania Cruises) is slated to dock at Port Cork on April 1st. With capacity of 850+ passengers, the ship heralds what promises to be a thriving year for Cork's cruise industry.

The anticipated cruise liners visiting Cork will hail from various corners of the globe, including exotic locales such as Bermuda, as well as from the USA, Canada, and across Europe.

The season's largest vessel is MSC Virtuosa, measuring 331 m (LOA length) and capable of accommodating almost 8000 passengers and crew.
