Minister of Tourism David Collado recently announced that the UK-based Marella Cruises has designated the Dominican Republic, specifically La Romana, as its homeport for the winter 2024-25 season.

Under this arrangement, the Explorer 2 vessel will make weekly visits to Dominican ports, leading to the arrival of 4 flights from England each time the ship docks.

This decision was finalized during Dominicana's participation in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2024 event, which Minister Collado described as highly fruitful.

Minister Collado shared his thoughts on social media, calling this development another significant step towards our objective of becoming the premier destination for cruise tourists. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) for their dedicated efforts at the event, highlighting the presentation of the country's dynamism, culture, and hospitality to the global audience.

Collado stressed the importance of continuing to pursue more tourism opportunities for the country and its people.
