Celebrity announces 2027 river program along the Rhine and Danube

Celebrity Cruises, long established as a name synonymous with refined ocean travel, has announced its entry into the river cruise sector, with voyages planned to begin in 2027. The move signals a marked expansion for the line, which seeks to bring its established standards of luxury and service to Europe’s most storied waterways.

The new program, Celebrity River Cruises, is expected to establish a fresh benchmark in river travel, combining modern amenities with carefully curated itineraries. The vessels will be tailored to those who wish to strike a balance between leisure and exploration, with an emphasis on seamless service and a fully inclusive offering designed to remove concern over incidental costs while at sea or ashore.

To support early demand, the company has introduced a deposit program that allows travelers to secure itineraries and accommodations ahead of public release. Guests making these early commitments will also receive updates on sailings as details are confirmed, with the reassurance of flexible booking policies should plans change.

At launch, the line will concentrate on two of Europe’s most sought-after rivers, each known for its cultural resonance and scenic passage. The Rhine, celebrated for its steep vineyards, medieval fortresses, and villages along the banks, will serve as one of the principal routes. Ports of call will include cities such as Amsterdam, Cologne, and Strasbourg, where architecture, tradition, and gastronomy combine to offer a vivid impression of the continent’s heritage. The line also plans sailings on the Danube, whose course connects travelers with some of Europe’s most iconic cities.

Recognizing that the river itself is only part of the journey, Celebrity River Cruises will also provide opportunities to extend voyages through pre- and post-cruise stays. Guests may, for example, spend time in Prague before joining a Danube itinerary, or enjoy the thermal baths of Budapest following their sailing. In Amsterdam, travelers will have the chance to explore the canals and cultural landmarks before embarking on the Rhine. These extensions are intended to broaden the experience beyond the riverbanks and provide a more comprehensive encounter with European culture.
