The forthcoming Oceania Sonata — the first vessel of the new SONATA Class of Oceania Cruises — has been laid out for public view as her initial season’s routing is published ahead of bookings opening on January 28th, 2026.
The luxurious vessel is scheduled to commence operations in August 2027, with a series of 22 voyages that extend from late summer through April 2028. The itineraries' durations range from 7 to 16 days and reflect Oceania’s emphasis on extended port stays.
Oceania Sonata’s maiden voyage is planned to put to sea from Civitavecchia-Rome on August 7th, 2027, bound for Trieste on the Adriatic after 14 days at sea and in port. Along the inaugural cruise, she is scheduled to visit Catania in Sicily, Valletta in Malta, Katakolon on Greece’s Peloponnese, Bar in Montenegro, and Zadar in Croatia, among others.
In the subsequent European season, the vessel’s track will encompass major cities such as Barcelona, Piraeus-Athens and Lisbon as well as smaller anchorages in Greece, Slovenia, Albania and Spain.
A series of overnight stays are scheduled for historic and commercial cities including Istanbul, Livorno and Bordeaux, permitting prolonged contact with local waterside culture and environs.
Upon the conclusion of her Mediterranean programme, Oceania Sonata is slated to make the Atlantic crossing to Miami, where she will commence deployments in subtropical waters. These include established calls in ports of the Caribbean and Latin America such as Bridgetown and Tortola, and visits to destinations further afield such as Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa in Mexico and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. The seasonal schedule also includes a daylight transit of the Panama Canal, an engineering passage connecting the Atlantic and Pacific.
Sonata is attributed to a new class (modified VISTA) within Oceania's fleet, designed to balance passenger accommodation, public spaces and access to coastal experiences, continuing Oceania’s long-held seafaring tradition of linking diverse destinations through comprehensive and carefully arranged itineraries.
