Adora Cruises is preparing to strengthen its Southeast Asian footprint through a new seasonal deployment in Malaysia, with Hwajing Travel & Tours confirming that AdoraMediterranea will operate an exclusive year-end homeport programme from Port Klang. The deployment marks a second charter collaboration between the Chinese cruise brand and the Malaysia-based agency and signals continued expansion of regional cruise activity centred on Malaysian embarkation demand.

The vessel, originally introduced to the global market as Costa Mediterranea under Costa Cruises before being reintroduced under the Adora Cruises banner in July 2024, currently operates from Guangzhou. The 12-deck ship’s arrival in Port Klang positions it alongside Adora Flora City, another Adora Cruises vessel scheduled to maintain homeport operations in Malaysia and reflecting the line’s broader deployment ambitions beyond its domestic market.

For the 2026 season, AdoraMediterranea will operate eight departures between November 24th and December 14th, featuring itineraries that connect Port Klang with destinations including Penang, Langkawi, Phuket and Nha Trang, alongside an extended sailing to Guangzhou. The programme offers a combination of short regional voyages and longer regional positioning designed to appeal to varied cruising patterns across Southeast Asia.

Adora Flora City is also scheduled to conduct two December departures linking Guangzhou, Manila, Brunei, Singapore and Port Klang, followed by a second itinerary incorporating Jakarta and Cam Ranh before returning to Guangzhou. Collectively, the deployment reinforces Port Klang’s role as an increasingly active embarkation point within the regional cruise network.

Operationally, the onboard experience has been structured to accommodate Malaysia’s diverse passenger base through Muslim-friendly dining arrangements and multilingual service teams supported by Mandarin-, English- and Malay-speaking crew.

Jenny Ye, Vice President of Sales, Revenue Management and Commercial Operations at Adora Cruises, indicated that Malaysia represents an important market within the company’s international growth strategy and that the deployment reflects continued interest in expanding beyond traditional home markets.

For Hwajing Travel & Tours, the agreement represents its third international cruise homeport initiative from Port Klang following earlier charter activity involving Costa Serena in 2024 and MV Piano Land in 2025. The company described the collaboration as recognition of growing confidence in China’s cruise sector and in the development of broader regional tourism flows.

The deployment illustrates how charter operations and seasonal homeport strategies are increasingly being used to introduce new cruise products into established maritime gateways while strengthening connectivity across neighbouring destinations.
