A 20-year-old British entertainer aboard a Royal Caribbean ship is missing after going overboard on Christmas Day, December 25.

The US Coast Guard was searching for the crew member, identified as Arron Hough, who went missing from Harmony of the Seas.

At the time of accident, the ship was sailing 267 miles (430 kilometres) northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on on a 7-night tour that departed Fort Lauderdale FL on December 23, calling at St Maarten, San Juan, and Haiti.

The talent agency of Mr Hough, Russell Smith Associates, tweeted it was shocked by the news concerning London's Urdang Academy graduate.

A spokesman for Royal Caribbean confirmed that a member of the entertainment team hadn't reported to work as scheduled on Tuesday, December 25, while the ship was sailing en route to Philipsburg St Maarten.

After a review of the closed-circuit camera footage of Harmony of the Seas, the man had been observed entering an area on Deck 5 at around 4 am and had not been seen again.

Local authorities had been notified and a ship-wide search had been conducted.
