Minister Vijay Daryanani welcomed Sky Princess on her inaugural visit to Gibraltar.
Sky Princess was on her maiden voyage, having been built in Italy and delivered to Princess Cruises on October 15. This first sailing, carrying 3600 cruise passengers and 1400 crew members, began in Piraeus-Athens (Greece) and ended in (Italy)Civitavecchia-Rome on November 3.
After the traditional plaques' exchange with Captain Heikki Laakonen on the bridge of the ship, Minister Daryanani and Nicky Guerrero, Chief Executive of Gibraltar Tourist Board, were given an escorted tour of the vessel by Hotel General Manager Terri Cybuliak.
She explained that the cruise ship is being marketed to an international audience, though over half of the guests on this first voyage were from North America.
