Keel Laid for Holland America's MS Ryndam

The keel-laying ceremony for the new liner ms Nieuw Ryndam which Fincantieri is currently building for the shipowner Carnival Corporation (to be operated by Holland America) took place on Thursday, November 21, at the shipyard in Marghera (Venice), Italy.

The first building block of the vessel, 14 meters long, 34 wide and weighing over 500 tons, is part of the central section of the 14th ship built for the brand by the Marghera yard, scheduled for delivery in 2021.

The newbuild, sistership of ms Koningsdam and ms Nieuw Statendam, the Pinnacle-class cruise ships delivered respectively in March 2016 and 2018 from Marghera, will be around 99,800 GT, almost 300 meters long, with accommodation for 2,668 guests onboard in 1,340 staterooms. 

She will boast a modern style, which blends with the traditional elegance distinguishing HAL ships. As for the sisterships, the design will be created by a couple of the major architecture studios in the world, Tihany Design, and Yran & Storbraaten. 

The technology is aimed at the optimization of energy efficiency and minimization of environmental impact.
