Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze delivered at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo

Star Breeze, the cruise ship marking the beginning of the modernization and extension Star Plus Initiative project of Windstar Cruises, was delivered at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy.

The program, worth US$ 250 million and involving the vessels Star Breeze, Star Pride, and Star Legend, envisaged 3 main complex activity areas: the installation of a new 25.6-metre mid-body section; total renewal of the propulsion engines and diesel generators for environmentally responsible navigation; extensive modernization of public areas, open decks, and passenger cabins.

Before the beginning of extension works, the Star Breeze ship had a length of 134 meters, with a tonnage of nearly 10,000 tons, and a 212-passenger capacity. After its completion, the liner has a length of about 160 metres, a tonnage of nearly 13,000 tons, and a capacity to accommodate 312 guests onboard.

Due to the experience gained with major naval projects, Fincantieri, through the “Ship Repair & Conversion” part of its Services Division has established itself as a reference point worldwide for this kind of sophisticated operation, consolidating the company’s leadership in this highly specialized naval transformation sector.
