The Finnish company Viking Line ABP has invested ~EUR 225 million in the shipbuilding project. The newbuild ferry is Finland-flagged and starting March 2022 will be deployed on the Turku-Mariehamn Aland-Stockholm route.
The vessel was commissioned on April 5, 2017. It measures 223 m in length and 35 in width/beam. Classified by DNV with the 1A Super (polar class), the ferryboat has dual propulsion to run on LNG (liquefied natural gas), which it will use when prices are more competitive than fuel. The service speed is 22 knots (41 kph / 25 mph).
