Andros Island is the northernmost of Greece's Cyclades. The island is approx 10 km/6 mi southeast of Evia (the second-largest in Greece/after Crete) and approx 3 km/2 mi north of Tinos Island. The island's namesake is in The Bahamas (Andros).

Andros Greece has length ~40 km/25 mi and width ~16 km/10 mi. The Andros municipality includes the island plus several neighboring/uninhabited islands, with a combined land area ~380 km2/147 mi2. The municipality center, principal port and largest settlement is Andros Town (population around 4,000). Other settlements are the villages Gavrio (on the southwestern coast), Ormos Korthiou (southeast) and Batsi (central-west).

Andros Port serves mainly regularly scheduled ferries linking the island with mainland Greece (Athens via Port Rafina). The route is served by the companies Cyclades Fast Ferries (3 daily crossings/travel time 2 hours), Golden Star Ferries (3 daily crossings/travel time 2 hours) and SeaJets (7 weekly crossings by fastspeed catamarans/travel time 1 hour).

Andros Town's squares are marble-paved. The town is linked (by a brick bridge) to two small isles - one has the ruins of a Venetian castle, the other has a lighthouse. The town has four museums themed on archaeology, folklore, modern art, and maritime/nautical.

The ancient city Palaiopoli/Palaeopolis (on the west coast) was the island's capital. The Apoikia village (accessed from Ormos Korthiou) is famous for its Sariza spring, which water flows from a lion's head sculpted of stone.

The island is very popular among domestic tourists for its scenery and numerous panoramic hiking paths through the mountains.
