Bitetos is a Douro River cruise port and a small village located in Douro Valley, with population under 500. The current village was built over the ruins of a Roman settlement. On river cruisetour itineraries in Portugal, Bitetos is usually visited on the return (eastbound) route to Oporto, with previous call port Regua.
The most popular attraction for cruise ship tourists is Alpendurada - an 11th-century Benedictine Monastery that doubles as restaurant. Cruise ships offer in Bitetos an overnight stay, allowing their passengers to enjoy an evening ashore to taste the local cuisine specialties and wines, and also to explore monastery’s interior and exhibits. Other attractions include Baroque churches and the Roman ruins.
The Bitetos cruise port map is interactive. It shows the port's exact location, along with the real-time cruise ship traffic (if any) in its vicinity - today, and right now. By zooming-out you can see other cruise ship ports located near Bitetos, Portugal.
