Bitetos is a Douro River cruise port and a small village located in Douro Valley, with a population of under 500. The current village was built over the ruins of a Roman settlement. On river cruise tour itineraries in Portugal, Bitetos is usually visited on the return (eastbound) route to Oporto, with previous call port Regua.

The most popular attraction for cruise ship tourists is Alpendurada - an 11th-century Benedictine Monastery that doubles as a restaurant. Cruise ships offer in Bitetos an overnight stay, allowing their passengers to enjoy an evening ashore to taste the local cuisine specialties and wines, and also to explore the monastery’s interior and exhibits. Other attractions include Baroque churches and the Roman ruins.
