Donegal is a port town in County Donegal (Ulster province, Ireland), with population around 3,000. Donegal Town is at the mouth of Eske River and Donegal Bay.

Donegal was the 'capital' of the Gaelic kingdom Tyrconnell (late-15th century-1607 AD) of the O'Donnell dynasty (powerful Irish family).

Local economy is based on tourism as the region features sandy beaches (some great for surfing), hill-walking (Blue Stack Mountains), many hotels, swimming pools, cinemas, large shopping malls. The town is also famous for its weaving carpets.
