Hannover is a Leine River cruise port and the capital and largest city of the Lower Saxony state (Germany). The city has population around 0,55 million (metro 1,2 million) and covers a total area of approx 204 km2 (79 ml2).
Leine River flows in the German states Thuringia and Lower Saxony. The river is a tributary of Aller (as well as of Weser) and has length of 281 km (175 ml). Approx 40 km (25 ml) from Leinefelde (Thuringia), the river enters Lower Saxony running northwards.and along Gottingen, Einbeck, Alfeld, Gronau. Then it enters Hanover. Approx 40 km (25 ml) north of the city it joins Aller River to reach North Sea via Weser River. However, only the river's northern waters are navigable, and mainly by cruise ships and very small commercial vessels.
