  Port Map

Inverie is the main port village on Knoydart peninsula (Scottish Highlands), located on Loch Nevis' northern side. The small village has population under 100.

  • Although on Great Britain's mainland, the one-track road is not connected to the rest of UK's road network.
  • Aside from the 27 km (17 ml) long rough terrain hike, the village is reachable by the regularly scheduled Inverie ferry (Knoydart-based Knoydart Seabridge) approx 11 km (7 ml) from Mallaig. The ferry service is daily (several times per day) and year-round, including the weekends. Another ferry ship (MV Western Isles) operates Monday through Friday during summer only (early April through late October).
  • Inverie's Old Forge pub is UK's remotest and the furthest from roads connected to UK's national network. In addition to the Old Forge, the town has two cafes, a pottery and a shop. A few B&Bs compete with rental cottages, lodges and a tourist campsite.
