Isla Gamez is a small island part of Chiriquí Gulf National Marine Park (Panama) located in the Pacific Ocean. Gamez island is a protected area and uninhabited. Wildlife includes sea turtles (leatherback and hawksbill), seabirds (tiger herons), green iguanas, howler monkeys, humpback whales, hammerhead sharks, whitetip sharks, manta rays, dolphins, colorful tropical fish. The island also has beautiful beaches.
The Marine Park was established in 1994 and covers a total area of 150 km2 (58 mi2), including mangrove swamp, marine meadow, 19 coral reefs, 25 small islands (all covered by tropical forests - cedar, hawthorn, oak).
Cruise ships to Isla Gámez and the nearby Isla Parida need special permit to visit the national park. The ships anchor at sea and their passengers are transported to the island via the ship's tender boats or Zodiacs (inflatable boats used for landings).
