Isle of Jura is one of Scotland's Inner Hebrides islands (Argyll and Bute). The island is located to the northeast of Islay. The terrain is mountainous, bare and infertile, largely covered by blanket mire (featherbed bog) which explains the small population of around 200. Jura Island's total area is approx 367 km2 (142 ml2) ranking it Scotland's 8th largest.
