Krefeld is a Rhine River cruise port and city in North Rhine-Westphalia state (Germany), located northwest of Dusseldorf. The city has population around 225,000.
- Downtown Krefeld is just a few kilometres to the west of River Rhine. Uerdingen borough is directly on the river. The city is accessed via highways A57 (Cologne–Nijmegen Holland) and A44 (Aachen–Dusseldorf–Dortmund–Kassel).
- On June 21, 1943, British bombers destroyed big parts of eastern Krefeld. The following firestorm consumed most of downtown. On March 3, 1945, US troops entered the city.
- Main tourist attractions include Linn Castle, Botanischer Garten (botanical garden), Lange and Esters Houses (art museum), Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Zoo, Galopprennbahn (horse racing track).
