The city is an important industrial center having KrAZ (heavy-duty off-road truck manufacturer, Ukrtatnafta's Oil Refinery, KVBZ (Kriukiv Railway Car Manufacturing Plant / railway repairs and rail-car manufacturer), as well as plans for automobile assembly, railcars, wheels, carbon black, steel works, milk and meat processing, Roshen Confectionery Corporation, Japan Tobacco.

Kremenchuk is also one of Ukraine's main railway hubs and a major river port serving cargo and passenger (ferry) shipping traffic.
