Lere is a Loire River cruise port and village in France's Centre-Val de Loire region (Cher department) with a population of around 1,000. The village is located on the Loire Lateral Canal (built 1827-38) that connects Canal de Briare (at Briare) with Canal du Centre (at Digoin in the Bourgogne region / Saone-et-Loire department). Lere is approx 75 km (47 mi) northeast of Bourges (Cher department's capital, on Yevre River), 33 km (20 mi) southeast of Gien (Loiret department), and 11 km (7 mi) north of Cosne-Cours-Sur-Loire (Nievre department).
As cruise port, Lere was included in the regular 2020 schedule of the CroisiEurope-owned hotel barge Deborah. The new ship (2016-built) is owned by one of Europe's largest river cruise companies and operates the following 6-day itinerary between homeports Nevers and Briare.
