For 2018 (March 7), MSC Cruises scheduled the first-ever ship visit and disembarkation in Pomene Bay (Mozambique, South Africa) with MSC Sinfonia. The bay is separated from the Indian Ocean waters by a pristine lagoon - a true African paradise full of mangrove trees "floating" on the surface. The lagoon is part of the "Pomene Nature Reserve" (protected marine park).
Among MSC Sinfonia's shore excursion in Pomene Bay were long walking tours, beach horseback riding tours, diving and snorkelling, various guided excursions, Pomene Bay beach sunbathing and swimming.
Pomene Bay is located approx 605 km (376 mi) north of Maputo (aka Lourenço Marques) - Mozambique’s capital and largest city. On one side is the Indian Ocean lapping onto the white-sand, palm-lined beaches, and on the other side is the clear-water mangrove estuary. This African cruise destination was added to MSC Cruises’ itinerary program 2017-2018 (November 2017 through April 2018). The maiden visit by MSC Sinfonia was on November 8th.
