Siglufjordur (port locode ISSIG) is a small fishing town located on Iceland's northern coast, with population around 1200. The town is famous for its Herring Era Museum (1994-opened), themed on the region's herring industry.

The local economy is largely based on the fishing industry.

The only road connection (opened year-round) is the Strákar Tunnel (1967-completed).

The nearest airport with regularly scheduled flights is in Akureyri (at approx 1 hour drive distance).

2018 was a record season when the cruise port handled 42 ship calls and around 7100, which means it is visited mainly by small-sized luxury boats.

Siglufjordur cruise terminal

Smaller cruise ships dock in Siglufjordur at Baejarbryggja (port's main pier) with length 220 m (720 ft). Larger vessels anchor in the fjord and their passsengers are transported ashore via the ship's tender boats.
