Ullapool is a port town in Ross-shire (Highlands, Scotland), wit hpopulation around 1,500. The North Atlantic Drift brings moderate temperatures. Several cabbage trees grow in Ullapool and are frequently mistaken for tropical palms.

Ullapool is centre for music, arts and live performances and has a small museum (housed in Telford Church), arts centre (with often changing workshops and exhibitions), fitness centre, swimming pool, several pubs, restaurants, hotels. The town is popular desitnation for wildlife tourism and holiday travel.

Annually (in May) here is held the 3-day Ullapool Book Festival attracting writers with works in both English and Scottish Gaelic. Macphail Centre has a theater regularly hosting theatrical, musical and dance performances, many by Scottish troupes and bands. Fun fact is that in Marvel's X-men series, the mutant superhero Rahne Sinclair (werewolf) is from Ullapool.
