Vanimo is a port town and the capital of Sandaun province (aka West Sepik) in north-western Papua New Guinea (PNG). The town is located on a peninsula near the border with Indonesia, and has population around 12,000. Local economy is based on timber industry. Vanimo Forest Products (PNG company owned by the Malaysian logging corporation Rimbunan Hijau) is the largest employer.

Vanimo is best-known as surfing destination, offering the most consistent waves in Papua New Guinea. Surfing season runs between mid-October through late-April. Vanimo is also popular as destination for foreign workers in Indonesia and PNG who have to leave the country in order to renew visas. In this case, they come over to the town for a day, stay in one of its hotels and head back to border 24 hours later.

Vanimo Airport serves the Air Niugini (airline) offering domestic flights to Madang and Wewak.
