MSC’s ZOE

ZOE is MSC’s—and the cruise industry’s—first in-cabin digital assistant. The technology was developed by Harman International (USA-based subsidiary of Samsung Electronics).

  • ZOE is a voice-enabled artificial intelligence device with advanced speech-recognition technology available in all staterooms.
  • ZOE speaks seven languages, answers cruise-related questions, provides information on services/activities/facilities, and handles reservations and bookings.
  • The device includes far-field microphones, a high-quality speaker, a quad-core processor for fast response, and Bluetooth-based phone connectivity. ZOE updates its own database over time.
  • Passenger data (itinerary details, preferences, tour selections) is stored in a secure cloud system and reused on future voyages.
  • The device (~15 cm) can be activated at any time. Guests must sign a waiver agreeing to personal data storage.

Debuting on MSC Bellissima (2019), ZOE is available on all newbuild MSC vessels and is being rolled out fleetwide.
