ms Rotterdam cabins review

The new MS Rotterdam has 1340 staterooms, including 912 balcony cabins (164 Suites and 748 Balcony staterooms), meaning that 69% of all accommodations feature a private step-out veranda. The remaining cabin types are Oceanview (147) and Interior (280, without windows). In total, there are 35 cabin categories, including 27 wheelchair-accessible staterooms.

The ship offers 12 Oceanview Studios (single-occupancy cabins for solo travelers) and 32 Family Oceanviews (quintuple/5-berth cabins designed for families with children).

All MS Rotterdam staterooms—regardless of category—feature the following standard amenities: a spacious sleeping area (two twin beds convertible to a queen-size bed), HAL’s signature “Mariner’s Dream” brand mattresses with luxury bedding, an en-suite bathroom (wall-mounted toilet, shower cubicle, massage showerheads, 5x magnifying mirror, quality hairdryer, terry bathrobes, Egyptian cotton towels, Elemis luxury bath products), individual air-conditioning, lounge/sitting area (sofabed, vanity table with magnifying mirror), smart HDTV (infotainment system, Internet access, on-demand movies), DVD player (DVD library), direct-dial phone, electronic safe and lifejackets (in the closet), personal stationery, fresh fruits (upon request), ice bucket, serving tray (in-cabin drinks), and complimentary services (ice delivery, shoeshine, nightly turndown).

You can see all furniture details on the HAL Rotterdam cabin floor plans in the table above.

The largest accommodations are the Penthouses/Pinnacle Suites (Deck 7). PS-Pinnacle Suites include a separate bedroom (king-size bed, premium bedding, bedside USB ports), master bathroom (oversized hot tub/shower, additional shower stall, separate shower, oversized towels, luxury bathrobes and slippers), living room (2-person sofabed, premium sound system, data port), dining room (6-seat dining table, pantry, mini-bar/fridge, microwave), guest toilet (powder room/half bath), large walk-in closet (with vanity table and chair), dressing room (magnifying makeup mirror). Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a private sundeck with Jacuzzi/whirlpool hot tub and a 4-seat dining table.

(SA, SB, SC, SQ-Spa) Neptune Suites offer two lower beds convertible to a king-size bed, a bathroom (dual-sink vanity, full-size hot tub/shower, separate shower cubicle, oversized towels, luxury bathrobes, slippers), and a sitting area with floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a private sundeck (aft wraparound terrace with a 4-seat dining table).

(SS, SY) Signature Suites/Mini-Suites include two lower beds convertible to a king-size bed, one 1-person Murphy bed (wall bed/pull-down), a bathroom (dual-sink vanity, oversized towels, full-size hot tub/shower, shower stall), a sitting area with mini-bar, and floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a step-out balcony.

(AS, A, B, BC) Vista Suites offer two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed, a bathroom (WC/shower, oversized towels), a sitting area (mini-bar), and floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a private balcony.

(V, VQ, VS, VA, VB, VC, VD, VE, VF, VH) Verandah/Balcony staterooms have two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed, a bathroom (WC/shower), a sitting area, and floor-to-ceiling windows opening to a private balcony.

(D, C, CQ, E, F, FA, FB, OO) Oceanview staterooms and (I, IQ, J, K, L, N) Interior cabins feature two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed and a bathroom (WC/shower).

Spa cabins are offered in categories SQ (Neptune Spa Suite), VQ (Verandah Spa), CQ (Oceanview Spa) and IQ (Inside Spa). The ship also has 12 studio/single cabins bookable at single-occupancy rates.

Unique for a Holland America ship are the 32 Oceanview Family cabins (categories FA-FB) accommodating up to five guests. Sizes vary from 222 to 231 ft² (21 m²), depending on deck location. These family staterooms feature two bathrooms—one larger (bathtub/shower, WC, sink) and one smaller (shower, sink). Holland America first introduced this 2-bathroom concept on Disney Cruise Line ships.

Among the modern enhancements found throughout MS Rotterdam’s accommodations are redesigned headboards with USB and electrical outlets on both sides of the bed, stone tops on desks and nightstands, redesigned closets and improved lighting. There are four distinct color schemes—separate palettes for suites, spa cabins, balcony staterooms and inside cabins.
