All are outside staterooms with direct access (via sliding glass doors) to Lower Promenade Deck - an outdoor (open deck) walking area that encircles the entire ship.
- Lanai cabin passengers receive on their first day a special access card for the sliding door. The card is different from the key card for the interior corridor (entry) door. The card will be placed in an envelope on the bed.
- To unlock the sliding door from the inside, you'll have to push the green button located next to the door. The door unlocks, and after exiting the room, it shuts and locks again automatically.
- To unlock the door from the open deck, you'll have to wave the access card over a panel (located outside the room).
- Each Lanai cabin has two “dedicated lounge chairs” (teak, with cushions) located on the open deck. Each chair has a signage stating that the seating is reserved for Lanai passengers only.
- Each stateroom has 2 closets (fold-down shelves, full-length mirror), 3rd closet (2 bars for hanging clothes), 4th closet (chest, 3 drawers, shelves, personal safe), private bathroom (single sink, WC, 2 glass shelves with Elemis bath products, 1 below-sink shelf, bathtub/shower). Handicap cabins are without the bathtub and with different furniture placement.
Lower Promenade Deck is the ship's muster deck, which makes the staterooms' location a convenience during the muster drill.

ms Volendam cabins review
The list of MS Volendam cabins by type includes a total of 197 Suites (no Standard Balcony cabins), 383 Oceanviews, 21 Lanai, and 136 Inside cabins. The number of cabin categories is 27. Of all cruise accommodations, 28% feature balcony views. There are 22 wheelchair-accessible cabins and 108 connecting cabins.
All MS Volendam staterooms include standard amenities such as a spacious sleeping area (two twin beds convertible to a queen-size bed), an en-suite bathroom (bathtub, shower, massage showerheads, luxury bath products, hairdryer), and a lounge/sitting area (sofa bed, vanity table with magnifying mirror). Each room also features a smart HDTV (infotainment system, Internet access, on-demand movies), DVD player (with access to a DVD library), personal stationery, electronic safe, lifejackets (in the closet), direct-dial phone, and individually controlled air conditioning. All cabin grades are furnished with luxury bedding and mattresses (HAL’s signature “Mariner’s Dream”), cotton robes and towels, and complimentary services upon request (shoeshine, fresh fruit, ice service).
All furniture details can be viewed on the HAL Volendam cabin floor plans in the table above.
All Suites (including Vista/balcony cabins) feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening onto a private veranda with lounge furniture (table, chairs, sun loungers).
Pinnacle and Neptune Suites additionally offer twin beds convertible to a king, bathrooms with whirlpool bathtubs, a dressing room, and a double sofa bed in the seating area. Guests in these Suite accommodations enjoy additional perks, including concierge service, priority services (check-in, embarkation, disembarkation, tendering, dining reservations), in-room dining (Afternoon Tea and canapés), umbrella and binoculars, Welcome Aboard gifts (flowers, fruit, champagne, bottled water), exclusive Suite Lounge access (Neptune Lounge), private breakfast service (Pinnacle Grill), and complimentary services (laundry, pressing, dry cleaning).
The largest accommodations are the Penthouses/Pinnacle Suites (forward on Deck 7), which include an oversized whirlpool bathtub, guest bathroom/half bath, powder room/dressing room, separate living room (with sofa bed), and a dining room (with minibar, pantry, refrigerator, microwave).
Most Oceanview cabins have a Picture Window, except for category G staterooms, which have a single Porthole Window. Currently, this Holland America ship has no Lanai staterooms; the CA category Oceanview cabins (promenade-view) historically featured sliding doors opening directly onto the Lower Promenade Deck 3.
Wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) are available in the following categories: Neptune Suite (SA), Vista Suite/Balcony (B), Oceanview (DA, E, EE, FF, G, HH–obstructed), and Interior (L, J).
Holland America Volendam Suite passengers enjoy the following bonus amenities:
- Neptune Suites: Nespresso coffee machine, BOSE SoundDock (multimedia iPod docking station), complimentary in-cabin breakfast (including complimentary mimosas), and luxury bath products (by Elemis).
- Signature and Vista Suites: binoculars (available for use throughout the voyage).
Implemented fleetwide in 2019, the Club Orange program provides exclusive amenities to guests booked in Neptune and Pinnacle Suite categories. Program benefits include:
- priority services (check-in, disembarkation, tendering, dining reservations)
- 24-hour concierge service (assistance, information, reservations)

- sparkling wine on embarkation day, Club Orange tote bag, premium bathrobes (for onboard use, available for monogramming and purchase)
