Star Breeze deck plans

Deck layouts, review of facilities, activities, amenities

Star Breeze deck plan review at CruiseMapper provides newest cruise deck plans (2026-2027-2028 valid floor layouts of the vessel) extracted from the officially issued by Windstar Cruises deckplan pdf (printable version).

Each of the Star Breeze cruise ship deck plans are conveniently combined with a legend (showing cabin codes) and detailed review of all the deck's venues and passenger-accessible indoor and outdoor areas. A separate link provides an extensive information on Star Breeze staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.

Star Breeze (built 1989 as "Seabourn Spirit", acquired and last refurbished in March 2023, with a major refurbishment and stretching in 2020) is the second of three identical-design Windstar cruise ships, together with Star Pride (Seabourn Pride) and Star Legend (Seabourn Legend). These three vessels are the largest in Windstar's fleet, a luxury brand known for its computerized tall sailing cruise ships. The Seabourn-to-Windstar transfer of Star Breeze took place in 2015. Seabourn Spirit left Seabourn's fleet on April 5, underwent drydock refurbishment, and entered service for Windstar on May 6.

Star Breeze's deck plan includes a total of 156 staterooms for 312 passengers (maximum capacity 343), served by 190 crew members. The vessel has 8 decks (6 passenger-accessible, 4 with cabins), 5 restaurants, 3 lounges and bars, 1 swimming pool, 3 Jacuzzis (outdoor whirlpool hot tubs), a retractable marina (aft-located watersports platform), 4 elevators, and an Infirmary (medical facility with a resident doctor).

Windstar Star Breeze is considered a luxury superyacht and operates on an all-inclusive basis. Complimentary amenities and services include:

  • complimentary Wi-Fi (Internet packages are also available for purchase at the ship's Reception)
  • 24-hour room service, twice-daily housekeeping, and complimentary laundry/ironing
  • all meals in all onboard dining venues at any time, including in-room dining
  • all non-alcoholic beverages (including soda, juices, bottled water, tea, specialty coffees, cappuccino); alcoholic drinks are not included in standard Windstar fares
  • Welcome Aboard cocktails
  • complimentary use of water sports equipment and fitness facilities, as well as onboard entertainment (including itinerary-related lectures and media presentations)
  • a daily schedule of onboard activities delivered to staterooms; special events and parties organized by the Cruise Director

Windstar shore excursions are not included in the fares; however, booked excursions can be changed or canceled without charge up to 24 hours prior to the tour date. In each port, a complimentary "Market Tour" is offered, allowing guests to join the ship's Executive Chef on a local market visit.

Star Breeze deckplan changes 2020 reconstruction / refurbishment review

On November 15, 2018, Windstar announced the "Star Plus Initiative," a drydock refit and refurbishment program with a budget of USD 250 million. The project was partially financed through an Export Credit facility guaranteed by SACE Italy (financial and insurance services). The "Star Plus" program included lengthening (stretching) and engine upgrades for the fleet's three Star-Class vessels (completion dates in brackets): Star Breeze (February 20, 2020), Star Legend (July 2, 2020), and Star Pride (November 20, 2020).

Windstar's "Star Plus" project increased fleet capacity by 24%. Upon completion, the upgrades resulted in increased passenger capacity (from 254 to 320 passengers, with crew rising from 140 to 190), higher gross tonnage (from 9,975 to 12,995 tons), extended length (from 134 m / 439 ft to 159 m / 522 ft), additional staterooms (from 106 to 156), new venues and public spaces, and machinery upgrades (including new Wartsila marine diesel engines). The project was carried out between October 2019 and November 2020 at Fincantieri shipyards in Palermo (Sicily, Italy) and Trieste (Italy).

Windstar Star Breeze cruise ship stretching

The ships' lengthening involved cutting each vessel in two and inserting a new prefabricated midship section measuring 25 m (83 ft). The vessel's LOA was increased from 134 m (439 ft) to 159 m (522 ft). The new midship section includes an additional elevator. These sections were prefabricated and assembled in Trieste, then transported by barge to Palermo for installation.

Following the drydock, each ship received two new dining venues (Cuadro 44 by Anthony Sasso and Star Grill by Steven Raichlen), expanded retail space (Signature Shop), an enlarged Fitness Center with Motion Studio, an expanded wellness complex (WindSpa by Steiner), a new bar lounge (deck 5), a larger sundeck and swimming pool (deck 7), a new tender loading area (deck 3 midship), two new tender boats (90-passenger capacity each), a new whirlpool and enlarged swimming pool (deck 8), and upgraded crew areas and accommodations. The two new dining venues include a specialty restaurant (Cuadro 44, aft portside on deck 6, replacing the former Casino) and a casual outdoor BBQ restaurant (Star Grill, located adjacent to the Star Bar on deck 8).

The ship's powerplant was upgraded from four Bergen diesel engines (model B33:45, combined output 7.3 MW) to four Wartsila engines (model Wartsila 46F, combined output 5 MW) running on cleaner ULSD (ultra-low sulfur diesel) fuel.

Each vessel received 50 new cabins (bringing the total to 156), which equates to an approximate shipbuilding cost per berth of USD 267,000. Among the new accommodations are two Midship Owner Suites and two enlarged Forward Grand Owner Suites, all located on Deck 6. All existing staterooms were fully refurbished, including bathrooms, balconies, sliding doors, furnishings, and equipment. The new public spaces and staterooms were designed by the NYC-based "The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry."
