Star Legend deck plan review at CruiseMapper provides newest cruise deck plans (2026-2027-2028 valid floor layouts of the vessel) extracted from the officially issued by Windstar Cruises deckplan pdf (printable version).
Each of the Star Legend cruise ship deck plans are conveniently combined with a legend (showing cabin codes) and detailed review of all the deck's venues and passenger-accessible indoor and outdoor areas. A separate link provides an extensive information on Star Legend staterooms (cabins and suites), including photos, cabin plans and amenities by room type and category.
Star Legend (1992-built as “Royal Viking Queen,” acquired in 2013 as “Seabourn Legend,” last refurbished in December 2025, stretched in 2021) is the newest of the three identical-design Windstar cruise ships, together with Star Breeze (Seabourn Spirit) and Star Pride (Seabourn Pride). These three vessels are currently the largest ships in Windstar's fleet—a company well known for its computerized sailing cruise vessels. The Seabourn-to-Windstar transfer of Star Legend was completed in 2015.
Star Legend's deck plan shows a total of 156 staterooms for 312 passengers (maximum capacity 343), served by 190 crew. The ship has 8 decks (6 passenger-accessible, 4 with cabins), 5 restaurants, 3 lounges and bars, 1 swimming pool, 3 Jacuzzies (outdoor whirlpools), a retractable marina (aft-located watersports platform), 4 elevators, and an Infirmary (medical facility with a resident doctor).
Windstar Star Legend is marketed as a luxury superyacht offering all-inclusive packages. The list of complimentary amenities and services includes:
- Complimentary Wi-Fi (premium Internet packages available for purchase at the reception)
- 24-hour room service, twice-daily housekeeping, and complimentary laundry and ironing
- All meals in all onboard dining venues, including in-room dining
- All non-alcoholic beverages (sodas, juices, bottled water, tea, specialty coffees, cappuccino); alcoholic drinks are not included in the base fare
- Welcome Aboard cocktails
- Complimentary water sports and fitness equipment, as well as onboard entertainment (including itinerary-related lectures and presentations)
- A daily program of onboard activities delivered to staterooms; special events and themed parties organized by the Cruise Director
- Shore excursions are not included, but booked tours can be modified or canceled without charge up to 24 hours prior

The yacht left Seabourn Cruises on April 20, underwent a USD 8.5 million drydock refit and refurbishment in Genoa Italy, and began operations for Windstar on May 25, 2015. During the 3-week stern-to-bow refurbishment, the Veranda Cafe and outdoor Star Deck were expanded, and additions included Windstar's Yacht Club, an infinity (resistance) pool, and a whirlpool.
Star Legend deckplan changes 2020-2021 reconstruction / refurbishment review
On November 15, 2018, Windstar Cruises announced the “Star Plus Initiative”—a drydock refit and refurbishment program budgeted at USD 250 million. The project was partially financed through an Export Credit facility guaranteed by SACE Italy. The initiative included lengthening (stretching) and engine upgrades for the three Star-class vessels—Star Breeze (completed February 20, 2020), Star Legend (July 2, 2020), and Star Pride (November 20, 2020).
Windstar's “Star Plus” project increased fleet capacity by 24%. Upon completion, the ships featured higher capacity (from 254 to 320 passengers, and 140 to 190 crew), increased GT (from 9975 to 12995 tons), extended length (from 134 m / 439 ft to 159 m / 522 ft), additional staterooms (from 106 to 156), new venues and public spaces, and upgraded machinery (new Wartsila marine diesel engines). The work was carried out between October 2019 and November 2020 at Fincantieri shipyards in Palermo (Sicily Island, Italy) and Trieste (Italy).
The lengthening process involved cutting each vessel in two and inserting a prefabricated 25 m (83 ft) midship section, increasing the overall length from 134 m (439 ft) to 159 m (522 ft). The new section includes an additional elevator. These sections were prefabricated in Trieste and then transported to Palermo for installation.
Following the drydock, each ship features two new dining venues (Cuadro 44 by Anthony Sasso and Star Grill by Steven Raichlen), expanded retail space (Signature Shop), an enlarged Fitness Center with Motion Studio, an expanded wellness complex (WindSpa by Steiner), a new bar lounge (deck 5), a larger sundeck and swimming pool (deck 7), a new midship tender loading area (deck 3), two additional tender boats (90 seats each), a new whirlpool and enlarged pool (deck 8), and upgraded crew areas and accommodations. The new dining venues include Cuadro 44 (a specialty restaurant on deck 6, replacing the former casino) and Star Grill (a casual outdoor BBQ restaurant on deck 8).
The ship’s powerplant was upgraded from four Bergen diesel engines (model B33:45, total output 7.3 MW) to four Wartsila engines (model Wartsila 46F, total output 5 MW) operating on cleaner ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel.
Each vessel received 50 new cabins (bringing the total to 156), with an estimated cost per berth of approximately USD 267,000. Among the new accommodations are two Midship Owner Suites and two enlarged Forward Grand Owner Suites, all located on Deck 6. All existing staterooms were fully refurbished, including bathrooms, balconies, sliding doors, furniture, and equipment. The new public spaces and staterooms were designed by the NYC-based firm "The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry".
