Ambassador Cruise Line UK's second ship Ambition/fka AIDAmira recently underwent a 4-week-long dry dock refurbishment at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The maintenance work involved various tasks, such as repairing the propulsion units, rudders, and stabilizers, as well as applying a fresh coat of paint to match the cruise company's colors.

The vessel left the dockyard on schedule with the assistance of three harbor tug boats and headed towards the North Sea via the North Lock, en route to Kristiansand, a southern Norwegian city.

After that, the vessel will proceed to Newcastle for its christening ceremony on May 11th, which will be presided over by Shirley Robertson, a British OBE.

Following the christening, the Ambassador, which has a passenger capacity of up to 1,200 and serves the British cruise market, will embark on its maiden voyage to France and Spain on the next day.

The Ambition was acquired by AIDA Cruises at the beginning of 2022 and previously operated as "AIDAmira." To comply with current regulations, the vessel underwent upgrades to its machinery and exhaust gas cleaning. It arrived at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven from Glasgow, Scotland, in April. While no significant changes were made to the hotel sector during the refurbishment, the vessel's appearance was improved.

Finally, until the end of March, the ship served as a floating hotel for Ukrainian refugees in Glasgow, Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government.
