HAL-Holland America Line has released details of its 2027 Cruisetour season, marking the cruise operator’s 80th year of service to Alaska with enhancements to its inland and sea-based programme. The line’s combined land-and-sea journeys will link classic Alaska cruises aboard ships such as Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Westerdam and Zaandam with overland travel into Denali National Park and extensions into Canada’s Yukon, offering a range of immersive itineraries.
The 2027 programme comprises 19 Cruisetour options designed to showcase the region’s natural landmarks — glaciers, wildlife habitats and wilderness landscapes — and link them seamlessly with scenic sailing through the Inside Passage. Some itineraries include extended inland stays and rail travel aboard the glass-domed McKinley Explorer® between the cruise port and Denali Lodge, as well as optional excursions on the historic White Pass & Yukon Route railway from Skagway, or direct transfers from ship to lodge.
A significant focus of the season is the expanded Holland America Denali Lodge, a privately owned wilderness property at the edge of Denali National Park that is undergoing a substantial upgrade ahead of the 2027 season. Improvements include new guestroom buildings, a modernised main lodge with expanded dining offerings and coffee service, refreshed public spaces and enhanced trail wayfinding. These developments are intended to elevate the land-based component of the Cruisetour experience and support longer stays in the interior.
In conjunction with these facility upgrades, Holland America Line has introduced an inclusive Cruisetour dining package for a limited period when bookings are made with the “Have It All Early Booking Bonus.” This package, valued at up to US$829 for the land portion of the journey, comprises breakfast and dinner at signature properties in Denali, Skagway and Dawson City, as well as lunch aboard the McKinley Explorer and meals during selected tours such as the Tundra Wilderness Tour.
By integrating coastal voyages with inland exploration under a single itinerary framework, and by providing coordinated land-and-sea logistics, the 2027 Alaska Cruisetour season is positioned to attract travellers seeking a comprehensive experience of the region’s landscape and cultural history on both water and land.
