Celebrity Cruises has announced an investment exceeding US$250 million to refurbish its five Solstice Series vessels, originally introduced between 2008 and 2012, as part of a long-term programme aimed at maintaining the competitiveness of some of the brand’s most established ships.
The initiative reflects Celebrity Cruises’ strategy of ensuring that its most popular vessels remain aligned with contemporary guest expectations while retaining the characteristics that have defined the Solstice Series since its debut. According to Claire Stirrup, Managing Director for EMEA at Celebrity Cruises, the investment was intended to preserve the appeal of the class while introducing enhancements shaped by guest feedback. She indicated that the Solstice Series continues to perform strongly within the premium cruise sector and that the refurbishment programme would help maintain the ships’ position in the market for years to come.
The first vessel to undergo the transformation was Celebrity Solstice, which completed its refurbishment in early 2026 before re-entering service in Singapore in March.
The extensive upgrade programme introduces a range of new venues, expanded accommodation options and redesigned public spaces. Stirrup noted that the project was designed to deliver greater choice, flexibility and space throughout the ship, with eight new onboard experiences added, including four concepts not previously featured within the Celebrity Cruises fleet.
Among the additions is the 125-seat Boulevard Lounge, a venue hosting entertainment throughout the day, while The Parlor has been introduced as a sports and gaming lounge with a darker, more intimate design. On the upper deck, Sunset Park provides a new outdoor social area intended for activities such as yoga sessions, lawn games and live music performances.
Dining options have also been expanded. Trattoria Rossa introduces a menu focused on Roman and Southern Italian cuisine, while Fine Cut Steakhouse offers dry-aged steaks and seafood specialties.
Accommodation upgrades form another major component of the refurbishment. All existing staterooms have been refreshed, while 54 additional cabins have been added across four new accommodation categories, increasing the ship’s total inventory to 1,479 staterooms.
Stirrup stated that the redesign drew inspiration from contemporary hospitality and residential interiors, with an emphasis on creating spaces that are welcoming, adaptable and conducive to social interaction. The refurbishment sought to improve the connection between indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining the familiar character of the Solstice Series. The result, she suggested, was a more contemporary onboard environment that balances modern amenities with the qualities that have long appealed to the line’s guests.
