HAL-Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Europe programme, offering an expanded collection of voyages across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and the Atlantic.

Drawing on 150+ years of experience in the region, HAL has scheduled its highest number of European port calls in almost a decade, including record numbers of visits to Norway, Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands. The season also offers access to 200+ UNESCO-listed sites, featuring extensive exploration of Norway's fjords, alongside experiences highlighting regional cuisine, local traditions, and destination-focused shore excursions.

HAL said the programme was designed to showcase Europe throughout the year, allowing guests to experience the continent's changing landscapes and seasonal attractions. Spring itineraries coincide with the Dutch tulip season, while winter voyages focus on the Mediterranean and Canary Islands, and summer sailings take advantage of extended daylight across Northern Europe.

The 2028 deployment extends from January through early December and features itineraries ranging from seven-day cruises to 48-day Legendary Voyages.

Five ships—Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Volendam and Zuiderdam—operate throughout the region, with overnight stays, extended port calls and late departures included on selected itineraries to provide additional time ashore.

The Mediterranean plays a central role in the programme, with voyages of 7 to 11 days departing from 6 homeports and visiting destinations in Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia and Turkiye. Nieuw Amsterdam will return to Europe for the first time in more than a decade, offering signature onboard experiences including the Morimoto by Sea specialty restaurant.

Several itineraries have been designed to be combined into longer back-to-back cruises (B2Bs) with minimal repeat ports. The 48-day Legendary Mediterranean Voyage is a roundtrip from North America. The season also includes HAL's highest number of calls to Spain since 2017 and a record 6 visits to Portofino.

Northern European itineraries (ships Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam, Zuiderdam) range from 7 to 28 days, covering Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the British Isles and the Baltic. The programme combines major cultural capitals with smaller coastal communities and features the cruise line's largest Norwegian deployment since 2014, together with record numbers of calls in Ireland and the Netherlands.

The season also includes Canary Islands cruises and transatlantic crossings linking Europe and North America. Canary Islands itineraries combine calls at Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote with ports in Portugal, Spain and Morocco. Longer Atlantic crossings and Legendary Voyages will incorporate destinations across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Atlantic islands.

For guests booking early, Holland America Line is offering its Have It All package, which includes shore excursions, specialty dining, a Signature Beverage Package and Surf Wi-Fi. Eligible bookings will also receive an Early Booking Bonus featuring prepaid crew appreciation together with upgrades to the Elite Beverage Package and Premium Wi-Fi.
