A 25-year-old man who was found on the NorthLink ferry ship Hrossey with GBP 2,500 worth of cannabis was remanded in custody before sentencing later this month.

Ian Mutch from Lerwick, appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court yesterday, October 4, to admit being concerned in supplying of class B drug on MV Hrossey on Monday (October 3) as it sailed from Aberdeen to Shetland.

The man also admitted he had stolen a rucksack from a shared stateroom on the boat the same day.

Mutch has been seen in possession of the rucksack on the boat's CCTV system. He said in court that when the bag was found it had 150 grams of herbal cannabis in it.

Mutch has a "lengthy history of dishonesty" and has only been released from prison in September 2017.

The case was adjourned for reports until October 25, with Ian Mutch remanded in the meantime.
