Agats (port locode IDAGA) is a port town and the administrative center of Asmat Regency (South Papua, Indonesia). The town has a population of around 1500. It is located near the Aswetsj River's estuary.

As a cruise port, Agats is visited by smaller ships and mega-yachts operated by luxury travel brands, like Seabourn.

Agats was established in the early 20th century (1938) as a Dutch outpost. It became the Agats District's capital and an administrative seat in November 2002, when the Asmat Regency (kabupaten) was formed by splitting off from the Merauke Regency. The Agats District consists of 12 villages (kampung).

The Asmat Regency (1969-formed) is bounded by the Arafura Sea (to the southwest), the Mappi Regency (to the southeast and east), the Highland Papua Province (to the north), and the Central Papua Province (to the northwest). It became part of the South Papua Province in 2022.

Asmat Regency's total population is around 120,000. The Asmat region is renowned for its cultural diversity, including wood carving practices and traditional ceremonies. Today, the Asmat Regency comprises 25 districts and 4 offshore islands.
