Belleville-en-Beaujolais is a Saone RIver cruise port and town in France's Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region (Rhone department) with population around 14,000. It is located approx 50 km/30 mi to the north of Lyon (France's third-largest city and metropolis (after Paris and Marseille), as well as the region's capital city.

In the mid-19th century, the town was connected (via the Paris-Lyon railroad/1854-opened) to both Paris and Marseille. The railway to Beaujeu (on the Ardiere River) was operational in the period 1869-1987.

In the mid-20th century, Belleville became interconnected with Paris and Lyon also via Highway A6 (passing to the east of the town). The town is served by 9 bus lines, including a line linking to Villefranche-sur-Saone.

Popular tourist attractions include Notre-Dame de Belleville (19th-century abbey), the historic Hotel-Dieu de Belleville (18th-century built hotel for the poor, now housing the municipal library and a museum), Etablissements C. Roux et fils (the Roux family factory/1854-founded, manufacturer of parquet and wooden barrels), the Beaujolais House & Vineyard, Chateau de Pizay (14th-century castle housing a large garden, a hotel and a wellness complex/spa), Notre-Dame-du-Raisin (Brouilly's chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary).
