Cayo Largo Island (officially Cayo Largo del Sur, translated as "Long Cay") is a small resort isle located off the south coast of mainland Cuba, northwest Caribbean Sea. To the west is located another popular vacation destination - the Cayo Rico Island - with its famous Playa Sirena beach.
Cayo Largo's length is 25 km (16 mi) and the island's width is just 3 km (1,9 mi). This is the 2nd largest island in Canarreos Archipelago and is part of Isla de la Juventud special municipality.
Cayo Largo del Sur's major tourist attractions are the west beaches, Playo Paraiso and Playa Sirena. These are approx 1 km apart, and people may easily walk between them whenever the tide is not full. Sirena boasts full-service tourist facilities. A shuttle "train" service takes travelers from the resorts to the beaches. Paraiso offers one of the world's finest undeveloped beaches. Travelers to Cayo Largo Island should be advised nudism is tolerated and practiced in designated areas on the periphery of the resorts, as well as on the many desolate stretches of beaches on the island.
