Culebra Bay (officially Bahia Culebra) is located to the north of Gulf of Papagayo, Costa Rica. Gulf of Papagayo (gulf of the parrot) is on Costa Rica's northwestern coast. Among the most popular resort tourism destinations are Ocotal Beach, Playas del Coco, Playa Hermosa, Playa Panama. Papagayo Project is one of the Central America's largest resort tourism development projects ever. Construction works started in 1993 with the Government's approval. Culebra Bay is served by the Daniel Oduber Quiros Airport in Liberia (capital and largest city of the Guanacaste Province). Bus travel from San Jose (country's capital city) takes ~5 hours. Buses from both San Jose and Liberia run daily.
