Dikili is a port town and cruise port to Pergamon, located in Turkey's Ä°zmir Province (Aegean Sea region). The whole district features a picturesque shoreline. The town has population around 20,000.

Dikili is a popular summer resort destination. The town is situated at around 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Izmir, served by good road. Close to Dikili is the noteworthy township of Candarlı (ancient Pitane), as well as the ancient and yet unexplored site of Atarneus (called locally "Atarna").

The town center of Dikili is situated opposite Lesbos Island, Greece. A small islet in Dikili district (called locally "Garip Adası", with ancient sources using the name "Argounissai") in April 2007 made international headlines. It is offered for sale by islet's proprietors and The Guardian reported that the Greek islanders of Lesbos were raising money among themselves to purchase it.

A crater lake is found in Merdivenli village, ancient caverns in Demirtas and Deliktas villages. Pine forests extend towards Madra Stream. Bademli, Kocaoba and Nebiler villages boast with their thermal springs. There are also beautiful beaches in Bademli and Denizkoy. Merkez Mosque is an example of rare wooden construction dating back from 1789, built without any nails in the construction.

Pergamon is a very popular archeological site having the ruins of an ancient Greek. It is located approx 26 km (16 ml) to the east from the cruise port Dikili and northwest of Bergama. The ancient city was the capital of Pergamon Kingdom ruled by the Attalid dynasty (281–133 BC). The Attalids allowed all cities in their domains to have nominal independence. They remodeled the Pergamon Acropolis after the Athens Acropolis. When their last king Attalus III (138–133 BC) died without leaving an heir, he bequeathed Pergamon to the Romans in order to prevent a civil war. Among Pergamon's most notable still existing structures are Hellenistic Theater (10,000 seats), Sanctuary of Trajan (Trajaneum), Sanctuary of Athena, Library, Royal palaces, Heroön (shrine for king worshipping), Temple of Dionysus, Roman baths complex and arsenals.
