From Issy-les-Moulineaux is offered a bus excursion to Chateau de Malmaison in Rueil-Malmaison, located approx 15 km/9 mi west of downtown Paris. The 18th-century palace was the residence of Empress Josephine Bonaparte (1763-1814, the first wife of Napoleon I and the Empress of France between 1804-1810). The palace was bought by Josephine in 1799 and hosted French government meetings in 1800-1802. After Napoleon I divorced Josephine in 1809, she made the mansion her permanent home until her death (1814).
Today, Issy-les-Moulineaux is at the heart of the Val de Seine (Paris City's CBD/business district), considered as France's largest cluster of telecoms and media businesses. Most major French TV networks are headquartered there.
