Nauta is a Maranon River (Amazon River) cruise port and town in Loreto Province's northeastern part (Peruvian Amazon). The town is located approx 100 km (60 ml) south province's capital city Iquitos. Nauta is on the north bank of Maranon River (large tributary of Upper Amazon), just a few km from the confluence with Ucayali River.

The settlement was first established by Cocama people, following the 1830 uprising at Lagunas. The new town soon became major commercial hub of Peru's Amazonian lowlands.

Nauta is accessible via road from Iquitos and by ships navigating Amazon (Maranon) River. Tour boats from Nauta sail to Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve (Peru's 2nd largest protected area) located approx 183 km (114 ml) southwest of Iquitos.
