Porto Levante is an Adriatic port serving as seaport for Porto Viro. It is located in Rovigo province (Veneto region, northeast Italy), approx 40 km (25 ml) south of Venice and 354 km (220 ml) north of Rome.
Porto Viro is a Po River cruise port and town with population around 15,000. It was first established in 1928, dissolved in 1937 and re-established in 1995 by merging Donada and Contarina. The town is located in Po River delta and enclosed between Tartaro-Canalbianco-Po di Levante (navigation channel to Venice) and Adriatic Sea. The territory is partly below sea level and features several great beaches, marsh valleys, lagoons, scanni (small sandy islands created by river debris).
