Qassiarsuk is a port village on Narsaq Peninsula, in Greenland's Kujalleq municipality, with population under 50. The settlement was founded in 1924 (as Greenland's first sheep farm) and is best known for the Erik the Red/Erik Thorvaldsson's estate Brattahld (10th-century Viking estate in Norse Greenland's Eastern Settlement/Eystribyggd colony). Brattahld is located in Skovfjorden/Tunulliarfik Fjord (near Qaqortoq).

As cruise port, Qassiarsuk is visited by smaller-sized, expedition-type luxury ships and superyachts. This is a tender port, which means that the vessel is anchored offshore and the passengers are ferried (weather permitting) via the ship's tender boats or Zodiacs (large-capacity motorized boats).

The nearest airport is in Narsarsuaq (approx 50 km / 30 mi by road, approx 5 km / 3 mi by boat, across Tunulliarfik Fjord). Flights (by Air Greenland) connect to Qaqortoq and Nanortalik. Qassiarsuk's economy is largely based on sheep farming and tourism (Brattahlid's Thodhildur church is among the country's most visited tourist attractions).

Qassiarsuk is approx 5 km (3 mi) across Skovfjorden from Narsarsuaq (to the east) and is part of the UNESCO site Kujataa (2017-listed). Kujataa is a farming landscape in Southern Greenland and the oldest evidence of the Viking culture (10th-15th centuries) outside Europe. In the 13th century, the Eastern Settlement grouped 200-300 stone-walled farms and the Norse settlers were joined by the proto-Inuits/Thule people.

Kujataa stretches approx 250 km (155 mi), from Egger Island (Cape Farewell) to Nunarsuit Island, and includes 5x World Heritage areas - Brattahld (in Qassiarsuk), Gardar (in Igaliku, Greenland's first modern Inuit farm), Sissarluttoq (Norse manor house), Tasikuluulik (in Vatnahverfi, Greenland's longest road connecting numerous Inuit sheep farms) and Qaqortukulooq (in Hvalsey, has 13x sites, including Greenland's best-preserved Norse ruins).

Erik Thorvaldsson (aka Erik the Red, born in Rogaland, Norway) was a Viking explorer who in the late-10th century founded Eystribyggd (Greenland's ever-first settlement).
