American Countess (1995-built as "Kanesville Queen", reconstructed in 2020, inaugurated in 2021, and scrapped in 2024) was an authentically designed stern paddle-wheel riverboat that operated cruises on the Mississippi River in the USA. The vessel was last operated by American Queen Voyages (formerly AQSC) and was part of a fleet that included the steamboats American Queen, American Empress, and American Duchess.
An interesting fact about this vessel is that it was constructed using the hull of the former casino ship Kanesville Queen, which was lengthened at Gulf Island Shipyard in Houma, Louisiana. While the original engines and propulsion system were retained, three new decks were added to achieve the vessel’s traditional “wedding cake” steamship design.
The American Countess deck plan featured a total of 123 staterooms accommodating up to 246 passengers, served by 110 crew members. The ship had four decks (two with cabins) and included amenities such as a Fitness Center, Perks SPA, The Theater (show lounge), a four-deck-high Atrium with a Grand Lobby, the Grand Dining Room (main restaurant), a Library (reading lounge), a Card Room and Chart Room (casual lounges with bars), the River Grill (bar-restaurant), and a Sun Deck featuring the Pilot House/Wheelhouse, a Walking Track, and shaded seating areas.
Three elevators (one aft and two forward) provided access between decks 1, 2, and 3.
